About the role

We need a technical artist to bridge our art and engineering teams - own performance, shaders, and the entire art pipeline for GEAR. This role is currently a complete gap and high-leverage from day one: you'll define the budgets and tooling that the whole art team works within.

We are looking for a hybrid engineer who can work across UE5 gameplay systems and the backend live-services layer. You'll own vehicle physics, combat, abilities, matchmaking, and progression - the systems that decide how the game feels minute to minute.

About the role

We are building GEAR, a 60-player vehicular battle royale in Unreal Engine 5, launching globally on December 1, 2026. We need a senior multiplayer engineer to own our netcode end to end. This is the single most important role on the engineering team - your work decides whether players feel the game or feel the lag.

Why this role

  • Own the entire multiplayer layer end to end - not a piece of it.
  • Ship a game with simultaneous launch events in Riyadh, Dubai, and Amman.
  • Real autonomy: you'll set the netcode roadmap, not inherit one.

  • Move vehicle replication from 30Hz to a stable 60Hz and eliminate rubber-banding.

  • Define and wire the anti-cheat and analytics compile flags currently undefined in the codebase.
  • Maintain and extend the FastAPI bot gateway.
  • Run load tests for full 60-player matches across our three launch regions and tune accordingly.
  • Own network performance budgets and the overall multiplayer build health.
